Seema has more than a decade – long experience as a visual communicator, documentary photographer, and design faculty. She has worked for various Governmental and non – Governmental organisations as a designer. Earlier she worked with DJ Academy of Design, Kerala State Institute of Design, and National Institute of Design as an academic. She was instrumental in setting up and starting activities at Kerala State Institute of Design.

Her design interests are with visual story telling using data visualisation, information design, interaction design, interactive narratives, multimedia and documentary photography. Her subject interests are in the intersection of socio – political – cultural – environmental – climate domains.

Currently she is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad and a PhD scholar at IDC, IIT Bombay. She holds a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Cochin University and Masters in Communication Design from Pratt Institute, New York where she was also a Fulbright – Nehru Master’s Leadership Fellow.
